Visit Pula – Istria Croatia

Pula is a city built-up in the country’s northwestern area along the Adriatic Sea near the base of the Istrian peninsula. It features a population of around 58,000 people it is the largest urban center in Istria.

Pula originated before the Roman era. Local findings prove the history going back more than 3,000 years. The city is very Roman in culture and tradition because it was a ancient colony of Rome in 178 B.C. One of the most important sights in Croatia is the Roman coliseum in Pula. It is good kept and today it is used for pop and classical concerts. Built Up during the 1st century AD is spotted as one the greatest still-existing Roman amphitheatres in the whole world. This survived kept from near-destruction when the Venetians (city was under Venetian ruler and played an main purpose in the Habsburg Empire) took to taking the arena’s rocks and putting them in their houses and other buildings all over Pula as well.

This is what they call Pula City’s main public square. Present, you will notice an ancient city mansion that was raised during the 16th century. What is fascinating in this city hall is that many pieces of it were made using parts of an historical temple.

At nowadays, Pula has even so saved some of its ancient Roman architectures. The most known are the Roma and Augustus temples built during the 1st century A.D., the Arch of the Sergii, and the Porta Aurea triumphal arch constructed in 1st century B.C. Other sights include the Franciscan Church, the Cathedral and Monastery.

Pula is one of Croatia’s leading port areas. It is also an industrial center.
Aside from this, the clean blue beaches of the city has made Pula a really catchy tourist center in the state.
