The Istrian peninsula is crammed with picturesque walled old villages on the seashore but few are as attractive as Novigrad. Het schiereiland Istrië is volgepropt met schilderachtige ommuurde oude dorpen aan de kust, maar weinigen zijn zo aantrekkelijk Novigrad. The center of the old town lies on a limestone peninsula that has been once an island. Het centrum van de oude stad ligt op een kalkstenen schiereiland dat al eens een eiland. Medieval walls topped with renewed crenellated towers run over the port and also the ancient center is replete with fifteenth to 18th-century homes and palaces. Middeleeuwse muren bedekt met hernieuwde gekanteelde torens lopen over de haven en ook het oude centrum staat vol met vijftiende tot 18e-eeuwse huizen en paleizen. A sightseeing highlight of Novigrad is the baroque Rigo Palace with a exquisitly sculpted facade. Een sightseeing hoogtepunt van Novigrad is het barokke paleis Rigo met een exquisitly gebeeldhouwde gevel. The top of the island is devoted to a park shaded with parasol pines and there's a lungomare – seaside promenade – that runs along the coast to the Novigrad marina, probably the most sheltered in the Adriatic sea. De top van het eiland is gewijd aan een schaduwrijk park met parasoldennen en er is een Lungomare - boulevard - dat loopt langs de kust naar het Novigrad jachthaven, waarschijnlijk het meest beschut in de Adriatische zee.
