In Croatia, 8 national parks were declared.
NATIONAL PARK PAKLENICA
National park Paklenica is located in behind of Starigrad and encompasses two canyons, Velika and Mala Paklenica. National park Paklenica is stunning karst phenomenon, and steepish sides of canyon are high too. Paklenica is an region of unique and unique match of sea and mountains, vibrant in forests of beechwood and black pines, caves and abysms. On the area of National Park Paklenica from coast to highest tops of Velebit there are approximately 800 herbal kinds. Of these, some 40 are autochthonous, plants of small spread.
NATIONAL PARK RISNJAK
National Park Risnjak was constituted national park in 1953. The importance of National Park Risnjak is in the fact that in not so massive surface area, thanks to tangle area of Gorski kotar, at that place intertwine distinct clime influences: rough Alps climate, mild field of the continental characteristics of Panonska nizina and mountain freshness of Dinaridi. Risnjak has an fundamental purpose in health tourism and it is specially attractive for trips – mountain mood, fields for winter sports, mountain trails, hunting and fishing.
NATIONAL PARK NORTHERN VELEBIT
National Park Northern Velebit was announced in 1999 as 8th and the youngest national park in. Area was named national park because of explicit differences of karst phenomena, fullness of living world and splendid natural beauties on relatively small area.
NATIONAL PARK KRKA
National park Krka is on the surface area of and river Krka is karst phenomenon which, getting through towards the sea, forms numerous lakes, cascades and rapids. On Island Visovac on the lake of the corresponding name, between two most picturesque cascades – Roski slap and Skradinski buk – there is Franciscan monastery.
NATIONAL PARK KORNATI
National Park Kornati is group of islands of approximately 140 islands, isles and reefs situated in centre part of Croatian Adriatic. Because of its stunning regional beauties, fascinating geomorphology, great indented of coastal line and especially full biocenosis of sea ecosystem in year 1980 bigger share of sea ecosystem of seascape of Kornati was proclaimed national park.
NATIONAL PARK MLJET
Island Mljet is the greenest Adriatic island, and the of island belongs to National Park Mljet. Island Mljet was named national park because of stunning natural beauty, fullness of plant life and fauna, composition of salty lakes representing extraordinary geological and oceanographic phenomenon, and because of outstanding cultural – historical heritage, which, in long-term series from time of Illyrian tribes, Roman Empire, Republic of Dubrovnik, passes to present days of life of modern human who made stabile life conditions here in harmony with intact nature.
NATIONAL PARK BRIJUNI
Island Brijuni by southwestern coast of Croatia, was made national park in 1983. It is established of fourteen islands and isles, of which the largest are Veliki and Mali Brijuni. Islands are covered in sub-Mediterranean vegetation, offering up tourists looks of intact nature. On the island there are zoological garden, and safari park, with many different animal species from all over the world. Traces of humanity on the island date from younger neolitik , and amongst numerous archeological places the most important is prehistorically settlement on hill Gradina. In bay Verige there are remains of true country villa of Roman temple, and on the western coast ancient antique Byzantine castrum and Byzantine basilica of Saint Mary from 6th century.
NATIONAL PARK PLITVICE LAKES
National Park Plitvice Lakes is the greatest and the most well-known national park and one of the most famous European parks and natural monument placed on the List of world heritage of UNESCO. This is woodland, mountain region in which there are 16 larger and smaller lakes. With numerous sorts of birds and little game, in Park there are as well deer, bears, wild boars and wild cats, and in the water trouts. National Park Plitvice Lakes is the famed tourist destination and travel place.
